Doctoral researcher seeks interviews with freelancers and interns

A doctoral researcher at Simon Fraser University is seeking freelancers and interns in Toronto and Vancouver to participate in her study of freelance working conditions.

In particular, Mirjam Gollmitzer is looking for freelancers and interns in the Toronto area who are available for interviews between June 14th and 19th, inclusive. She is also seeking interviews with freelancers in Vancouver. Gollmitzer prefers to meet participants in person  for one-on-one conversations about their work experiences. Participants will be given full confidentiality.

The goal of Gollmitzer’s study is “to explore working conditions in journalism from the perspective of workers – and to explore, if and how these conditions could or should be changed.”

Interested freelancers, contract workers, and current or former interns are invited to contact Gollmitzer at mirjamg@sfu.ca or visit www.mirjamgollmitzer.ca for more information.

I hope Miriam knows about Nicole Cohen’s dissertation work on this issue. Nicole is now a professor of communication at Uni of Toronto Scarborough.

Yes, I know Nicole Cohen’s work and have talked to her about mine. We are hoping to collaborate on something in the future! Thank you.
